Catalina de Foix

The last descendant of the French monarchs of Navarra, Catalina de Foix was the great-granddaughter of Queen Blanca de Navarra and Juan II of Aragon. Her marriage to Juan de Labrit coincided with a turbulent period in Navarra history. In 1512, the kingdom was annexed by Castilla, with Tudela being the last stronghold to fall. Catalina reign thus marked the end of an era for Navarra, as it was absorbed into the growing Spanish Crown.
